Upgrading a Redundant Application from GENESIS Version 10
When upgrading GENESIS from version 10.97.0 or later to version 11, you can migrate most of your redundancy settings, although not all of them. Follow the general upgrade procedure, especially the following:
- Before uninstalling your current version, check the project compatibility using Compatibility Analyzer. The tool will inform you about the required actions.
- After installing the new version, run Upgrade Utility. It should take care of most of the settings.
The details of the migration process depend on the type of redundancy.
-
FrameWorX redundancy (including the client redundancy) and OPC UA redundancy
In most cases, these configurations are automatically migrated by Upgrade Utility. You just need to enter the cluster name when required. For further details, view the Warnings and Actions tabs in Compatibility Analyzer.
-
GenBroker/OPC Classic redundancy
The GenBroker redundancy is not migrated since GenBroker was removed from version 11 and replaced by Data Broker that is used solely for OPC Classic communication. If you want to make the OPC Classic connection redundant, you need to configure it in the new installation. Learn more
-
Hyper Alarm Server and Hyper Alarm Logger redundancy
These configurations are automatically migrated to Alarm Server and Alarm Historian by Upgrade Utility.
-
AlarmWorX64/Alarm Server redundancy
For Alarm Server redundancy, you need to convert the AlarmWorX64 Server configuration using Data Migration Utility, and then manually reset the redundancy. Learn more
-
AlarmWorX64 Logger/Alarm Historian redundancy
For Alarm Historian logger and collector redundancy, you need to convert the AlarmWorX64 Logger configuration using Data Migration Utility, and then reset the redundancy manually, both for the logger and the collectors. Learn more
-
Hyper Historian/Data Historian redundancy
The Hyper Historian configuration can be automatically migrated to Data Historian, including the logger and collector redundancy settings. To do that, you must be using websocket configuration for the collectors. Learn more
In GENESIS version 11 and later, you can also configure redundancy for individual point managers. Learn more
