Before You Begin
Before upgrading GENESIS™ to Version 11, you need to perform the following tasks.
- Make sure that your system meets the minimum hardware and software requirements. Learn more
- Make sure that you have a Windows account with local administrator privileges.
- (Optional) If you are planning to use the SQL Server authentication for connecting to the SQL Server that is used for GENESIS databases, obtain new or existing user account credentials for that SQL Server. Make sure that you have permission to create databases.

Obtain the GENESIS version 11 installation package in one of the following ways:
- Download the trial version from https://iconics.com.
- Download GENESIS from the ICONICS Community Portal. To access the portal, you need to register.
- Request the installation DVD.
- Obtain the Product Registration Number(s) and Customer Key(s) needed to activate your license.
You can obtain your product registration numbers and customer keys from the email that you received when you purchased the license. If you cannot locate this email, you can find your registration numbers on the ICONICS Community Portal. If you still cannot find your product registration numbers, contact ICONICS Customer Support. To obtain your customer key, contact license@iconics.com.
- Download and run the GENESIS Version 11 Compatibility Analyzer. This tool was designed to help you with a smooth transition from GENESIS version 10.97.0 and later to version 11. Learn more
- Back up all display files and the configuration and logging databases that you want to use in the new installation. Also back up the .ini and .config files if you have made any manual edits.
- Kill your current GENESIS software license. Learn how
- Uninstall any previous versions of GENESIS. Learn how
