Welcome to GENESIS Version 11
ICONICS, a group company of Mitsubishi Electric, is a global leader specializing in automation software. We provide automated software solutions for various industries, such as automotive, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil and gas, water and wastewater, and building automation to name a few.
GENESIS is an advanced digital platform used for HMI/SCADA and information-centric projects. This solution provides an easy and efficient platform to create and configure projects for various business-related usage scenarios, including high availability control architectures. The following table describes key components.
Key Components |
Description |
---|---|
Platform Services |
This is the central part of the platform, called FrameWorX, that provides connectivity, authentication, and data exchange between GENESIS components and servers. It also handles aliasing and manages fail-over situations to deliver a highly redundant solution (if needed) for alarm and historical data, and interactions with the platform. |
Workbench |
Workbench is the main component for configuring all system components and features. It is the primary workspace for configuring platform components, such as building and equipment assets, data sources, transactions, reports, and other business logic. |
Assets |
Assets in Workbench provides a hierarchical method for defining and organizing physical structures, such as buildings, business units, and related machinery, equipment, and production lines that require performance and optimization monitoring. It complies with ISA 95 and ISA 88 standards for all organizational levels. You can view organizational structures in many ways. For example, you can organize your assets based on:
|
Connectivity |
GENESIS can connect to many different devices, such as PLCs, robots, and variable-frequency devices (VFDs) and beyond, using a variety of protocols, such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC, MQTT and MQTT Sparkplug-B, SNMP, Web Services, and Mitsubishi Electric FA. Additionally, connectivity through third-party OPC servers like the Takebishi DeviceXPlorer OPC Server is supported. |
Software Integration |
Software integration includes such things as scripting methods for automating and connecting with other software systems to visualize data and automate and control processes, such as recipes, security, and alarms. There are also utilities that allow you to easily integrate with the GENESIS platform, such as data converters for upgrading and importing organization structures to the latest version of GENESIS. |
Visualization |
GENESIS has a powerful design editor, known as GraphWorX, that you use to create visualizations, control screens, and dashboards with 2D or 3D elements that can be interactive at runtime using either the Web Browser or Desktop App mode. |
Alarming |
An ISA 18.2-compliant alarm-management system that is composed of an Alarm Server and an Alarm Historian. Alarm Server configures alarm parameters and monitors, detects, and processes real-time alarms. Alarm Historian, paired with Alarm Server, collects and logs all alarms and events, storing them locally with the possibility of exporting files for further analysis. |
Data Historian |
A reliable, real-time historical data collection component that enables users to easily configure various data points for collection, storage, and archiving. The data is made available in other components to view trends, perform calculations, or merge data from other historians. |
Bridging |
A data bridging and logic engine that uses a graphical interface to configure transactions and parameters. It can connect to various sources with our platform or externally to assist with importing and exporting data, performing actions, bridge protocols, or creating custom logic using the Activity Library, which can be used out-of-the-box. |
Reporting |
Generate reports and consolidate data results from various sources, including devices, OPC, web services, and databases. You can generate reports in the following formats: Microsoft Excel, PDF, HTML, or CSV. |
Notifications |
GENESIS provides various types of alarms, reports, and data notifications. You can configure notifications to send using email or SMS/text messaging. In addition, you can create escalations and schedule deliveries for more advanced notifications, such as real-time equipment status or alarm alerts. |
MobileHMI |
An iOS and Android application that connects to the platform and allows access to operational information from a wide variety of mobile devices. From within the application, users can monitor operational information, acknowledge alarms, visualize historical trends, and control their system depending on their level of security. |
Analytics |
Provides components and features that collect and transform real-time data from operational devices, building systems, and other software systems to improve visibility, production efficiency, space utilization, ensure quality, and reduce downtime and costs through effective data utilization. |
