Configuring GSM SMS Notifications

In GENESIS, the GSM Short Messaging Service (SMS) is used for outgoing messages that are sent through Bridging or Connected Field Services. It also provides support for outgoing messages triggered by alarm or event subscriptions.

The basic GSM SMS service does not support acknowledging alarms via SMS. To acknowledge via SMS, use the Alert Sierra Service, Azure Communication Services, or Vonage Service together with Connected Field Services or Bridging.

To send text messages via the GSM SMS provider, you must first configure at least one SMS/Text node in Workbench.

To configure the GSM SMS in GENESIS:

  1. Open Workbench and in Project Explorer, expand your project > Alarms and Notifications > Alert Notifications.
  2. Right-click SMS/Text Nodes and select Add SMS/Text Node. The NewSMS/TextNode dialog opens.
  3. In Name, enter a name of the configuration.
  4. Configure the Hardware and Data tab settings. Learn more
