Moving a USB Security Key License to Another System
Because a USB security key license is tied to the key rather than to a machine, you move it to another GENESIS system simply by moving the key. There is no need to kill the license and reactivate it, as you would when transferring a software license.
The target machine needs a local copy of the license file, and it must have GENESIS installed with the YubiKey Utilities component. Once the license file is in place, plugging in the key licenses that machine.
Both machines can keep a copy of the same license file. Only the machine that has the key plugged in is licensed; the other returns to demo mode.
To move a USB security key license to another system:
-
On the target machine, confirm that the license file (.jws) is present in
C:\ProgramData\ICONICS\11\License. If it is not, copy the license file from the current machine into that folder on the target machine. -
Unplug the YubiKey from the current machine. That machine returns to demo mode.
-
Plug the YubiKey into the target machine. GENESIS on the target machine is licensed automatically with the key's entitlements.
-
Open License Monitor on the target machine to confirm that the license is active. Learn more
