Installing Updates to GENESIS
Keeping GENESIS up to date with the latest version is the best way to keep your application stable, secure, and leveraging the latest features.
The following instructions are for upgrading from GENESIS version 11 or later. To upgrade from GENESIS64 version 10, refer to the Upgrade Guide.
To install an update to GENESIS version 11:
- Download the latest GENESIS update from the Community Portal.
- Follow the steps in Installing GENESIS to install the new version. You do not need to uninstall your current GENESIS version; the installer automatically applies new content on top of the existing installation. This also means that you do not need to kill your license and then activate it again.
- When the Configure System utility opens (in case your installation contains any server components), keep clicking Next until you get to the Available Configurations section, and set up your preferences in the Run On Startup column. No other configuration should be required since the project configurations are updated for you during the installation process.
- If Upgrade Utility opens, follow the steps in Using Upgrade Utility to Update an Existing Project to migrate the required configuration file changes.
