Using an Equipment Class to Add Equipment to the Asset Tree
Once you have defined an equipment class for the type of equipment you want to add to the asset tree, you can use it to create the equipment nodes. You do this by dragging the equipment class from the Equipment classes node, dropping it into the asset tree node where it belongs, and then instantiating the aliases.
To add an equipment node to the asset tree by using an equipment class:
-
Open Workbench and in Project Explorer, expand your project > Assets > Equipment, and keep expanding the asset tree until you can see the node to which you want to add the new equipment.
-
In the Equipment classes node, navigate to the desired equipment class, and then drag and drop it to the desired node in the asset tree.
The equipment class (or classes, if you are using a multi-tiered equipment class) is placed in the asset tree but still needs to be saved there using the Instantiation Options dialog that opens.
-
In the Instantiation Options dialog, replace the equipment class aliases with real values for this equipment node.
- If the required information is not yet available, you can do this step any time later.
- If the dialog shows a No aliases found message, no replacements are required. Click the Instantiate button, and then click Close in the next dialog.
To instantiate the aliases, do the following:
- For each alias in the list, go to the Replace With column and replace the alias with the value to be used for this equipment.
- Click Instantiate to make the replacements and save the new equipment node(s) to the asset tree. A dialog showing the progress opens.
- If the save is successful, click Close. If any errors occur, refer to Handling Instantiation Errors.
