Configuring Your Data Source

Configuring a data source connects various devices and systems and provides updating, near real-time data for use in GENESIS. You can collect data from many sources, including BACnet, databases, Mitsubishi Electric devices, Modbus devices, and other devices.

This guide walks you through installing and configuring a data source using DeviceXPlorer OPC Server. The server simulates the incoming data from an OPC UA server connected to a Mitsubishi MELSEC PLC, which assembles data from a tank farm management system (TFMS).

Although you may not have an OPC UA server, a Mitsubishi MELSEC PLC, or a TFMS, the Start-Up Guide provides instructions to simulate that environment, allowing you to build, test, and verify many of the available features in GENESIS while introducing and enforcing best practices for developing your own solution.
