Licensing Entitlements
An entitlement is a permission granted by the purchased software license. There are different types of entitlements granted by a GENESIS license:
-
Tier —Defines the default features, possible add-ons, and possible redundancy.
-
Tag count —The number of tags or points that can be in use or configured.
-
Servers —The number and type of servers that can share the license.
-
Clients —The number and type of client applications that can be connected.
-
Features —The features that can be used.
The following table describes each entitlement type.

Entitlement Type |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Tier |
A tier defines the default features, possible add-ons, and possible redundancy that comprise a license. All the licenses in a network must be of the same tier. These are the tier levels: |
|
Tag count |
The number of tags or points that can be in use or configured. Tags are points of data used in a screen or another area of the software. They are also referred to as data points. Only the following types of tags are counted for licensing purposes: |
|
Servers |
The number and type of servers that can share the license. Instance count is the number of nodes that can run on a server. A node is a computer or a virtual machine. For licensing entitlement purposes, a server is a computer that runs the FrameWorX service and provides data to the local computer or remote client computers. Servers must be of the same tier to communicate with each other. |
|
Clients |
The number and type of client applications that can be connected. For licensing entitlement purposes, a client is a computer that connects to a GENESIS server for data or visualization. Client entitlements are limited by hardware performance rather than the license. |
|
Features |
The features that can be used. Feature entitlements enable or change specific GENESIS features. When you purchase a license for a product, you are given the proper feature entitlements to use that product. For more information, see Licensing Features. |
