Accessing and Using Local Help

The most up-to-date GENESIS product Help is available online at https://documentation.iconics.com. However, you can install the offline local version of the Help and access it from Workbench and GraphWorX.

Installing the Offline Help

In the GENESIS installation, installing the Help is switched off by default, so you need to add it to the installed components before the installation begins, or you can add it to an existing installation. To install the Help on the local machine, do the following:

  • When installing GENESIS using the standard UI: After selecting the workload, select the checkbox for the Help component on the Advanced tab. Learn more
  • When performing a silent installation: Add the Help to the Components parameter of the command:

    start /wait GENESIS_Setup.exe /s /Components=Help

  • When adding the Help to an existing installation: Modify the installation and select the checkbox for the Help component on the Advanced tab. Learn more

Accessing the Help in Workbench and GraphWorX

You can access the installed product Help in Workbench and GraphWorX by clicking on the Help ribbon.

The Help (or other options as listed in the Help Ribbon Options section) opens in a new Help tab that is added to the right panel. By default, it stays available permanently unless you close the dialog.

The home page contains release notes for the latest version and links to basic information for getting started with GENESIS. To access the full Help menu, click at the top right.

Setting Up Display and Update Preferences

In the Usability section of the Help ribbon, you can set up your preferences for displaying and updating the Help. You have the following options.

  • Open the content directly in the right panel of Workbench or GraphWorX or externally in a web browser.
  • Display the installed offline Help or the latest online version.
  • Enable help updates. When selected (the default setting), Workbench or GraphWorX checks for updates of the Help on startup. If a new version is available, you get a message that includes the option to automatically update the offline Help.
