Setting Up a Sierra Airlink Modem

Using the ALEOS ACEManager, you can configure the SMS settings for your Sierra Airlink modem.

To configure ALEOS ACEManager settings for your Sierra Airlink modem:

  1. On your local network, install the Sierra Airlink modem.
  2. In a web browser on the same network as the Sierra Airlink modem, enter https://127.0.0.1:9443 to access the ALEOS web page.
  3. In User Name and Password, enter your user name and password, and then click Log In.
  4. Under the Services tab, select SMS, and complete the following fields. 

    Field

    Description

    SMS Mode

    In the drop-down list, select Control and Gateway.

    Local Host IP

    Enter the IP address of the computer running the Alert Sierra Point Manager.

    Local Host Port

    Enter the port of the computer running the GENESIS Alert Notifications Sierra Point Manager to use to receive incoming User Datagram Protocol (UDP) messages.

    ALEOS Port

    Enter the modem port number to use to send outgoing UDP messages. This port number should match the Local Host Port above.

    Update your firewall configuration to allow UDP messages through the Local Host Port and ALEOS Port above.

  5. In the Message Format Configuration section, do not make any changes.

    The software only supports ASCII for the Message Body Format.
  6. Click Apply, and then restart the modem.
