Service Configuration Overview

The server components in GENESIS rely on Windows services. All GENESIS-related services start with "ICONICS." These services can provide data, communication, or services to client components. For more information about communication between clients and servers, refer to Internal Architecture of Workbench.

The Configure Services feature allows you to manage the ICONICS services directly in Workbench without using the Services feature in Windows.

Clicking the Configure Services button on the Home ribbon displays the list of all available ICONICS services. You can perform the following actions.

• Check the status of a service.
• Start a service.
• Stop a service.
• Select the start mode of a service from the following options: Disabled, Manual, Auto, or Auto (Delayed).

You can even view all Windows services available in the system. It's very useful to verify that only the needed services are running since it reduces memory consumption and CPU usage on the server.
