Configuring a Data Exporter Dataset

A dataset definition defines what the Data Exporter exports: the tags, whether the values are raw or aggregated, and the columns of each exported record. A new dataset starts with four columns, PointName, TimeStamp, Status, and Value, which export each raw sample with its point name and status.

To configure a dataset:

  1. Open Workbench and in Project Explorer, expand your project > Historical Data > Data Historian > Data Exporters.

  2. Right-click Datasets and select Add Dataset Definition. The dataset definition configuration opens.

  3. In Name, enter a name for the dataset.

  4. On the General tab, in Storage data, select Raw data or Aggregated. For aggregated data, set the Aggregate Options:

    Setting

    Description

    Default

    Resampling start

Start time for the aggregate calculations

The time you created the dataset

    Calculation Period

    Interval for each aggregate value

    15 minutes

    Percent Good

Minimum percentage of good data in an interval for the aggregate status to be good

    80

    Percent Bad

Minimum percentage of bad data in an interval for the aggregate status to be bad

    20

    Treat Uncertain as Bad

Counts samples with uncertain quality as bad

    Selected

    Sloped Extrapolation

Projects values past the last known sample along a slope, instead of holding the last value constant

    Cleared

  5. On the Columns tab, select Add to add a column and Remove to remove one. For each column, set the following:

    • Name—The column name in the storage.

    • Column Value Type—What the column contains, such as Value, Timestamp, Value Status, Point Name, Engineering Units, or Description. Array of Values takes one element of an array tag, set by Index. Calculated computes the value from the expression you enter in Expression.

    • Resampled Value Type—For aggregated data, the aggregate to export, such as Average, Maximum, or Interpolative.

    • Target Data Type and Data Type Length—The data type to convert the value to in the storage. Native (no conversion) keeps the logged data type.

  6. On the Filters tab, select the tags to export, using either or both of these grids. The Data Exporter exports a tag if either grid includes it.

    • Tags—Select Click here to add new item, and then select the browse button in Data Point Name to select a tag.

    • Filters—Select Click here to add new item, and then enter a Path Filter, a Point Name Filter, or both. They accept the wildcards *, ?, #, and []. In Variable Type Filter, enter the types of tag to include: R for raw, C for calculated, A for aggregate, and M for merged data. Leave it empty to include every type.

    • Clear Is Included in a row to exclude the tags it matches.

  7. Select Apply.
