Redundancy and Fault Tolerance in Data Historian
Data Historian provides comprehensive redundancy options to ensure continuous data availability in the event of hardware or network failures. Features include:
- Multi-tier redundancy: At both the collector and logger levels, Data Historian can deploy redundant systems to prevent data loss.
- Store and forward: In case of a network interruption, collectors store data locally and forward it to the logger once the connection is restored.
Data Historian's multi-tier redundancy applies to:
- The presentation layer
- Data loggers
- Collectors
Each layer independently selects the active data source based on its availability. Real-time collector redundancy can use "keep alive" data coming from redundant PLCs.
