WhatsApp Templates For Twilio and Vonage

WhatsApp requires verified templates to initiate sending messages. Message templates are formats for common reusable messages that you may want to send. Businesses must use message templates for sending notifications to customers.

We recommend registering the following templates for using WhatsApp with GENESIS Alert Notifications.

For alarm acknowledgment via Connected Field Services and Bridging, GENESIS requires the following structure at the beginning of the template format:

MsgID: {{1}} Msg: {{2}}

  • {{1}}: The alert Message ID generated internally by Alert REST.
  • {{2}}: Custom alert message such as "Alarm activated" or "Alarm deactivated".

You can provide other customized information after that. The following examples show templates for alert notifications of activating and deactivating an alarm.

MsgID: {{1}} Msg: {{2}}. At {{3}} on {{4}}. The specifics are {{5}}.

  • {{1}}: ID generated internally by Alert REST
  • {{2}}: Alert message such as "Alarm activated"
  • {{3}}: Alarm source
  • {{4}}: Alarm time
  • {{5}}: Alarm details

MsgID: {{1}} Msg: {{2}}. Hello {{3}}, the alarm that occurred at {{4}} on {{5}} is now deactivated.

  • {{1}}: ID generated internally by Alert REST
  • {{2}}: Alert message such as "Alarm deactivated"
  • {{3}}: User/Worker name
  • {{4}}: Alarm time
  • {{5}}: Alarm source

If you do not intend to use acknowledgment via Bridging or Connected Field Services, you can forgo the GENESIS requirement of the MsgID: {{1}} Msg: {{2}} structure at the beginning of the template format, and only define your custom template. In that case, you can clear the Enable SMS ID checkbox in Alert Notifications > General Settings. After that, only the message gets sent out.
