Updating the Active Time Behavior of Alarm Server

The default behavior of alarms in the GENESIS Alarm Server is different than AlarmWorX™64. This change was made to align with industry standards, but it can affect the behavior of Connected Field Service when compared to AlarmWorX™64 MMX.

To ensure that you get notified about alarms that have returned to normal and then back to alarm, even if they are not acknowledged, set your alarm type so that the active time resets after a "return to normal, unacknowledged" state.

This change is optional. If you don't want a new workflow instance to be triggered unless the alarm is acknowledged first, leave your alarm types with the default setting of Reset on 'Normal' state. For more information, see Why You Should Change the Active Time Setting in Alarm Server.

To reset the active time after an unacknowledged return to normal:

  1. In Workbench, go to Alarms and Notifications Alarm ServerTypes.
  2. Edit your type.
  3. In the Active Time section, select Reset on ‘RTN Unack’ state.
  4. Repeat for all the alarm types that you plan to use with Connected Field Service.
