Activating an Emergency License

Most product registration numbers come with a 60-day time-limited copy of the same entitlements. This license is intended to be used if the original license has been lost or invalidated to keep the system running while the original license can be recovered.

Activating an emergency license will overwrite any software license already on the system, so be sure your license is truly lost before activating the emergency 60-day license. If you are not sure, contact customer support to help you confirm.

To activate an emergency license:

1. Find the product registration number of the emergency license. Emergency license product registration numbers start with the letters PE. If you do not know your emergency license product registration number:

   1. Find the product registration number of the lost license.

   2. Replace the leading SFPN characters with PE. For example, SFPN12345ABC would become, PE12345ABC.

      Older product registration numbers may start with P or PN instead of SFPN. Replace those characters with PE.

2. Follow the procedure for activating a software license, using this PE product registration number and your original customer key.

3. If you have not already done, so, follow the procedure for recovering a lost license within 60 days.

Once your original license has been recovered, customer service will restore the emergency license so it is ready to handle a future emergency. This includes refreshing the expiration date, so you will have another 60 days in the event of another emergency.
