About the Bulk Asset Configurator
The Bulk Asset Configurator utility is a tool to automatically instantiate Equipment in AssetWorX based on an Equipment Class and unique parameter values for each instance of Equipment.
The utility makes use of a Microsoft Excel file that contains AssetWorX path structures to where equipment will be instantiated, Equipment Classes to references and values for each parameter that exist in the Equipment Class used.
An additional sheet within the Excel file defines the alarm and historian definitions for each property of the Equipment Class which requires these definitions. Users can choose to only include the definition columns for the properties they use. For example, if the user is not using Deviation alarms, the Excel file does not need to contain any Deviation alarm property columns, thereby simplifying the sheet.
Each Equipment Class contains:
- Folder Structure (if applicable)
- Equipment Properties
-
Name
-
Dynamic Tag Address [if applicable]
-
Alarm Definition
-
Hyper Historian Logging Definition
-
Reference to Hyper Historian Point Address
- FDD Definitions
- Energy AnalytiX Definitions
All information contained in an Equipment Class shall be instantiated to each instance of Equipment.
When Creating Alarms
- Unless otherwise specified, the alarm name is made up of the AssetWorX asset path and the property that is to be alarmed on
- The AssetWorX asset structure for each instantiated equipment is recreated in alarm areas and associated to alarms of that equipment
- Alarm input references the AssetWorX point name for the instantiated property
Creating Hyper Historian Tags
- The AssetWorX asset structure of instantiated equipment is recreated as folders in Hyper Historian
- Tag names are based on property names of instantiated equipment
- Tag input references the AssetWorX tag name for the instantiated property
The Bulk Asset Configurator utility supports the following options when instantiating:
- Create New Items - Only new items that exist in the Excel workbook but not in the AssetWorX database are created during instantiation.
- Update Existing Items Only - Only items that exist in the AssetWorX database and in the Excel workbook are updated during instantiation. An update will change all properties based on the Excel workbook definition but not delete and re-create the item. Items that must be maintained are:
-
Asset ID
-
Energy AnalytiX ID
-
FDD ID
Properties that would need preserved options are:
-
Static Equipment Properties
-
Delete - If a child item (faults, Equipment Properties… etc.) is removed from the Equipment Class, the removed items are also removed from any existing Equipment that is being updated.
- A combination of both Create New Items Only and Update Existing Items Only
