Logins and Passwords

When accessing ICONICS applications, you are presented with a log in dialog. Logging in is associated with user accounts, and have a single password. The security policy for user accounts are set up though the system administrator.

  • If you are using Windows Active Directory as the validation method, then your Windows log in serves as your authentication.
  • If you are using the ICONICS Security Server as the authentication method through an external identity provider (IdP) or a user account other than Windows Active Directory, you need to log into the system and provide your credentials. See Global Settings for security information.

Logging In and Out

To log in or log out of an ICONICS application:

  1. Click the application's File menu, then select Log In.

There may be icons available elsewhere in the application where you can elect to log in or log out. They work the same way as described here.

  1. In the Security Login dialog box, enter the account name and the current password, and then click the OK. This logs you into the application.

Clicking the Keypad button opens the virtual keypad shown below. The keypad is particularly valuable for changing values in run time or while using touch screen applications where no physical keyboard is provided.

If you need to change an account password, click the Change Password button in the Log In or Log Out dialog box. Enter the user name, current password, and the new password twice. You can also access the change password function from the context menu of the account icons in the navigation tree.

You will also have to log back into the system if you have been locked out due to a period of inactivity exceeding the lock out period. If you find that the navigation tree's items are grayed out or that the applications are unresponsive to your keyboard input, try logging back into the system.
