Killing the Software License
Before you install a new version of GENESIS and upgrade your license, you need to kill the current license. The process involves generating the required kill codes in the License Utility application (an integral part of the GENESIS installation) and then using this information to kill the license in the online ICONICS Web Licensing site.
To kill the software license:
- In the Windows search box, enter license and open the License Utility application with administrator privileges. If a Windows dialog appears, click Yes.
- Click the Kill Current License button, and then click OK. A text file named KillCode.txt is generated and put on your desktop (<SystemDrive>:\Users\<username>\Desktop). It contains the required information that you will need in steps 5 and 6.
- Log in to the ICONICS Web Licensing Utility.
-
Click Software, and then select Kill License on the top ribbon.
- Navigate to your desktop (<SystemDrive:\Users\<username>\Desktop) and open the KillCode text file created in step 2.
-
Copy the site key and the kill code from the text file and enter them in the Site Key and Kill Code fields of the ICONICS Web Licensing dialog, and then select Remove Key.
If you plan on activating this license again, save the product registration number (PNumber) and customer key.
