Redundancy and Fault Tolerance

Data Historian provides comprehensive redundancy options to ensure continuous data availability in the event of hardware or network failures. Features include:

  • Multi-tier redundancy: At both the collector and logger levels, Data Historian can deploy redundant systems to prevent data loss.
  • Store and forward: In case of network interruptions, collectors store data locally and forward it to the logger once the connection is restored.

Data Historian's Multi-Tier Redundancy applies to:

  • Presentation Layer
  • Data Logger
  • Collectors

Each layer independently selects active data source based on its availability. Real-time collector redundancy can use "keep alive" data coming from redundant PLCs.
