Using the History Logger in BACnet Overview
The History Logger is a part of the Data Historian component in GENESIS. You can use it in BACnet systems to capture time-series data from BACnet devices and archive it in a historical database.
The History Logger in BACnet only records historical data coming from the following objects in BACnet devices:
-
Trend Log and Trend Log Multiple
These objects record and store time-series data from various devices within a building automation system (BAS).
-
Event Log
These objects record and store historical event logs such as alarms, faults, or state changes, for diagnostic and auditing purposes.
Typically, the data from BACnet devices is sent to a GENESIS workstation for examination, analysis, or archiving for future use.
It enables you to track and store the data over time and access it for long-term analysis, trend monitoring, reporting, and auditing purposes. This provides insights into the performance of building automation systems (such as HVAC, lighting, or security systems) or industrial control systems, which allows optimization, such as improving operational efficiency, performing predictive maintenance, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
