Reserving Entitlements for Specific Clients or Users

You can reserve entitlements so that they can only be used by specific client computers or security users. This can ensure that lower priority users cannot use up all the entitlements, preventing a higher priority user from using them.

When reserved entitlements are in use, there are two pools of entitlements, one reserved for high priority users and one for standard users. A standard user cannot use entitlements in the reserved pool, only the standard pool. A high priority user will first attempt to use entitlements from the reserved pool, but if there are no reserved entitlements available, they can use entitlements from the standard pool.

Entitlements can either be reserved on a per-computer or per-user basis.

ClosedTo reserve entitlements per computer:

  1. Open Platform Services Configuration.

  2. Go to the Reserve License tab.

  3. In the Client Reserved Licenses table, add the name or IP address of the client computer, specify the type of entitlement in the License Type column, then enter the number of entitlements you'd like to reserve in the Count column.
