Adding a Software License to a Licensed Server

To add new entitlements to a server that already has a software license, do the following:

  1. Get a Site Code and a Site Key.

    1. On the server where the license will reside, open the License Utility.
    2. Copy or write down the site code and site key. You will need to enter this information on the website later. You can leave this dialog open for later use.

If you have a system with both 32-bit and 64-bit products (such as GENESIS32 and Hyper Historian), you only need to use one License Utility. You will have two License Utilities installed, but they are both used to modify the same underlying license, like having two doors to the same room. However, you must use the 64-bit License Utility for all license actions.

  2. Get a GLIC file.

You can perform these steps on any computer that has internet access.

    1. Go to https://licensing.iconics.com and log in.

If you don't have a login, you can register for one using the Create New Account link.

    2. Select Software and log in with your email and password.
    3. Select Add to License at the top of the screen.

Do not select New License. If you select New License, the existing license that is already activated on this server will be lost, and you will need to go through the recovery process to get it back. For more information, see Recovering a License.

    4. Enter your site key, product registration number, and customer key. You can enter more than one set of numbers at a time. When you have entered all your product registration numbers, click Next.

You can enter product registration numbers for 32-bit and 64-bit products at the same time. However, the versions must be compatible with each other.

    5. Choose an existing end user or enter new end-user information, and then click Next.
    6. Select all the products that you would like to add to this server, enter the site code, and then click Next.
    7. Check the summary to make sure everything is correct, and then select Generate Key.
    8. Download the GLIC file and save it somewhere on your machine. If necessary, move it to the server where the license will reside.
  3. Activate a license using the GLIC file.

    1. On the server where the license will reside, in the License Utility, click Browse and locate your GLIC file.
    2. Once you have selected the file and the License File field shows the correct file path, click Activate License, and then click OK to close the dialog that appears. The License Utility should now show the current license information. Your machine is now licensed and ready to enter production.
    3. When the activation process is complete, you can delete your GLIC file or save it for your reference. It is not necessary to keep it.

After activating, you may have noticed that the site code has changed. This is normal. The site code will change each time you activate, kill, or change your license.
