Yammer Integration with AlarmWorX Multimedia
AlarmWorX Multimedia supports Yammer via SMTP using the Email SMTP Agent.
To Configure the Email Agent for Use with Yammer, Complete the Following Steps:
-
Enable the SMTP mail agent
-
Using the EmailCfg, set the standard SMTP access settings.
-
Set the ‘From Email Address:’ to a valid company email address that is recognized by both the company and is assigned to a Yammer account.
Note: The machine in question will require relay permissions to forward emails on behalf of the company mail server.
When configuring mail to be sent to Yammer accounts, use the following rules for configuring the AlarmWorX Multimedia email destinations - Send To, CC, BCC:
Posting a Message to Your Home Network
If you want to post a message, by using email, to your home network, you must send an email message to your network's email domain name, followed by @yammer.com. For example, if your domain is contoso.com, send an email message to consoto.com@yammer.com.
Posting a Message to Your External Network
If you want to post a message, by using email, to an external network, you must send an email message to the network's name in lowercase and without any spaces or punctuation, followed by @yammer.com. For example, if your external network name is Fabrikam Contoso, send an email message to fabrikamcontoso@yammer.com.
Posting a Message to Groups in Your Network
If you want to post a message, by using email, to a specific group in your network, you must send an email message to both the group and to the network names in lowercase, together with a plus (+) symbol in between the names and without any spaces or punctuation, followed by @yammer.com. For example, to create a post, by using email, to the Sales Team in the Contoso network, you would send an email message to sales+contoso.com@yammer.com.
It is recommended to limit the number of emails sent to Yammer to no more than 10 every 30 seconds. This is based on the Yammer API message restrictions. If the rate exceeds the amount allowed by Yammer, the mail source may be blocked.
